The install went easy enough, but it’s probably going to take me another hour to get things actually rolling.  I would have loved an install that fully got things going and at the end you had a 2 e-mail mail campaign that would be sent to the list admin as a test.  Oh well, hopefully I’ll get back to it before the end of the month.

Any other phpList admins out there?

Before you go, I’ve got a quick question for you while we’re here.

Which one of these do you want to see, or do you have something that you would like to see better?

Step One – Click “Plugins” on “Edit Post” Screen

Step Two – Search for “socialmarker” and press “Install” (all the way over at the right)

Finally, Step Three – Wait till the install is done, and then click “Activate Plugin” (and yes, I did miss getting the screen shot of the confirmation screen between steps two and three)

Ta-da, you are now done.  You should now see the following icon at the bottom of all of your posts.

Now the tricky part is going to be figuring out how to get my screen shots to show up on the page the way I want them to.  Stay tuned.

1) Log into word press as the admin.

2) Click on “Plugins”

3) Search for “Google Analytics for WordPress”, Click “Install” on this one:

4) Enter your Google Analytics “Web Property ID” in the top spot named “Analytics Account ID” (should have the following format “UA-9999999-9″)

5) Click Update Setting ….. And, you’re done.

Add Google Analytics to site

Saying that Google Analytics is an amazing product is to under utilize the word amazing.  I was first introduced to Google  Analytics a couple of weeks ago in the Thirty Day Challenge.  If you are doing anything on the internet, you HAVE to know how much traffic you are getting and where it is coming from.  Google  Analytics provides that information. [Edit:  Adding Google Analytics was a snap and this was completed about 20 minutes later after the initial post]

Add sign up / sign in page for registered users

We are going to need users.  Clients, customers, contributors, friends, relatives, the list goes on, and we’re going to need a place for them to get together and mingle.  We’re also going to need contact info from them to keep them up to date on what is going on here at the site.  Or at least keep the one’s that want to be kept up to date, up to date.

Find out if there is a face book – word press linking app

There has got to be a way that my face book entries and my tweets can be reflected on this site.  Now the question is “how?”

Install a shopping cart and use it for free stuff to get the gears moving

We’re going to need a shopping cart sooner or later, and by managing free stuff with it, all the sand can be worked from the gears before we ever try to run a single red cent through the machinery.

I may be soon learning why people outsource their web administration.

That went smoothly.  A little bit of research revieled that the steps were as follows.

1) Back up web-site – that led to some more research, but it turned out to be a button push

2) Find out if my host supports automatic WordPress upgrades (it does)

3) Log out, and then log back in as site admin.

4) Press the “upgrade” button.

Total time with research; less than 15 minutes
